Armor
Heavy armor is very rare in Talislanta. Aside from the Aamanians and the Kang, no one wears full suits of heavy metal armor. That is not to say that various types of armor do not exist, however.
Of the armor types in the PH, all light and medium armors are available, as well as half-plate. The weight and penalties for armor assume it is made from black iron. Armor made from red iron weights half as much, costs twice as much, and reduces penalties by -1. Adamant armor costs 20x as much and doubles the AR.
Aeriad Light Body Plate [Light, AR +3]
Light body plate is made from thin sheets of red iron, shaped to conform to the wearer's body (treat as chain shirt).
Gnomekin Scale Armor [Medium, AR +5]
Made from the rugged scales of subterranean beasts, this armor is used exclusively by the Gnomekin (treat as scale mail).
Kang Battle Armor [Heavy, AR +7 ]
Kang battle armor is comprised of interlocking plates of black iron (red iron for elite troops). The plates are padded for comfort and the joint sections are hinged to allow for relative ease of movement (treat as half-plate).
Spangalor [Light, AR +4]
This lightweight and flexible metallic cloth was developed in Cymril. It is as light as cloth but as durable as chain mail (treat as leather).
Thrall Garde Armor [Medium/Heavy, AC +1/+2 ]
Thrall armor consistes of spiked iron plates, padded for comfort and affixed to the limbs by leather straps. Standard garde armor covers only the arms, while full garde covers the legs as well. Only Thralls are trained to use garde armor properly (Exotic Weapon proficiency).
Unlike normal armor, garde armor acts as a shield, providing an AC bonus instead of an Armor Rating. It can also be used to make close combat melee attack (treat as armor spikes). It is possible to take both Improved Critical, Weapon Focus and Weapon Specialization with Garde Armor, in which case the bonuses to hit also add to the AC bonus as well.
