Muses
Winged, telempathic creatures who can play with the emotions of others.
Personality: To non-telempaths, Muses often seem distracted, disinterested, and aloof. In fact, they are contemplative by nature, and are highly perceptive to their surroundings. They rarely speak, preferring to communicate via telempathic images. When telempathic contact is not possible or is undesirable, Muses typically have their pet whisps speak for them. Muses regard common speech as dull and uninteresting. They love music and art, but are averse to hard work; hence, they create only as the mood suits them.
Physical Description: Muses stand 5 ½ to 6 feet tall and weigh 90 to 150 pounds. Their skin and hair are colored either turquoise, violet, rose, or aquamarine. They have delicate, faerie-like features and butterfly-like wings.
Relations: Muse prefer the company of artistic races, such as the Gnomekin and Cymrilians, though they find Thrall tattoo art fascinating. Sindarans make Muse’s uneasy, as their dual-encephalon nature renders them all but immune to the Muses’ telempathic abilities.
Alignment: always chaotic, mostly good
Muse Lands: Muses dwell primarily in Astar in the Seven Kingdoms
Religion: none. The Muse’s revere Nature, but do not worship it.
Language: Low Talislan
Adventurers: Muse adventurers are very rare indeed. Occasionally, however, either due to some odd wanderlust or due to the requirements of the Muse’s hobby, a Muse and his or her Wind Whisp set off to see the world. Sadly, few return unless they find some able-bodied friends to travel with.
Roleplaying Notes: your race marches to the beat of a different drummer. Items which others find trivial attract you powerfully. The Moment is what is important – unless peril is immediately imminent, ignore it and enjoy life. Above all, remember that you are an artist.
Outsiders do not understand. They see your preoccupation with art as childish and your disregard for planning as foolish. They misinterpret your Moments of artistic creation as disinterest or stupidity. Although you feel friendly toward them, you know better than to waste valuable Moments explaining yourself.
Books and study bore you. Non-violent, you disdain weapons, armor and martial skills, relying on your magical abilities to protect you when necessary. You don’t understand the concept of money and are terrible at bartering.
The world is dangerous, so be cautious and shy around the unknown – but once you are sure of your safety move in for a closer look. Remember the value of Moments. Wood Whisps are your best friends. You depend on them to watch out for you.
