Ferran
Rodent-like thieves and scavengers.
Personality: Ferrans are scavengers by trade and preference; they will not acquire by honest means anything that they can steal. Sly and crafty, they avoid direct conflict whenever possible, preferring instead to utilize stealth, speed, and the element of surprise. Ferrans are habitual collectors of just about anything, and have no concept of repair. They use an item until it breaks and then abandon it.
Physical Description: Ferran stand 3 ½ to 4 ½ feet tall and weigh 60-85 pounds. They have rodent-like features, coarse brown fur, and a hairless tail. They emit a musky scent that most races find offensive. They dress in odd bits of leather armor and such garments as they can steal from others.
Relations: Even more so than Sarista, Ferran have a well-deserved reputation as thieves that make them unwelcome just about everywhere. For thier part, Ferran view anyone and anything as a target.
Alignment: Chaotic through and through. Ferrans do recognize the importance of forming a pack for mutual support and protection, however, and will not steal from within their own packs.
Ferran Lands: Ferrans are found through the Wilderlands of Zaran, particularly near the Labyrinths of Sharna.
Religion: None. Ferrans have no concept of or interest in a higher power.
Language: Ferrans speak Low Talislan.
Adventurers: Ferran make excellent thieves and spies and the more civilized ones can make a profitable living by trading in their natural talents. Most are skilled in the use of daggers, short swords, light crossbows, garrotes and black jacks.
Roleplaying Notes: you are a scavenger and a thief. The thieving life is superior to all others – why make goods or grow food when you can survive by taking what you need from others? Stealing is exciting, calling for endless cunning.
You prefer to travel with a group and tend towards depression if by yourself. You have no concept of “honorable combat” preferring to have an advantage and to attack from the rear or by surprise whenever possible. You pride yourself on your natural cunning, and your curiosity drives you to try new things constantly. You have no patience for anything boring and will rarely have taken the time to learn anything remotely resembling a scholarly skill.
